Training and preparing thousands of volunteers for success
Organizing the Paris 2024 Olympic and Paralympic Games posed a massive training challenge. With over 45,000 volunteers, thousands of employees and dozens of partners to train, it was crucial to implement a large-scale, consistent and inclusive training system — all within strict deadlines. As early as 2019, the Paris 2024 Learning Club recognized the need to produce engaging educational content in high volumes and recommended the creation of an in-house video studio.
This is how Rapidmooc quickly became a key partner in the project. It was one of the first tools integrated, four years before the official launch of the Olympic Games, enabling efficient, high-quality and fast video production.
How to structure and scale training for such a fast-paced event?
For an event of this scale, the challenge wasn’t just creating videos. They also had to ensure they were accessible, inclusive and engaging, tailored to diverse learning paths and a wide range of professions, all united under the banner of the Olympic and Paralympic Games. Two figures played a crucial role in implementing this strategy: Anne Joignant and Laurent Lalande.
The mission was clear: to gradually equip all management teams with the skills to produce training videos while ensuring a high standard of quality and accessibility for an audience of over 100,000 learners.
The project was executed in two key phases:
Phase 1 – up to summer 2023:
- Raising team awareness about training
- Presentation of tools and methodologies
- Set up of a recording room (for videos and podcasts) and support for users (templates, advice, scripting assistance)
- Progressive scaling of educational video creation
Phase 2 – between September and December 2024
- Implementation of the Learning Champions program, uniting 200 industry experts to foster a strong learning community.
- Training experts in various tools across the entire video production chain, including post-production and content integration into the 2024 Academy (LMS). This included bi-weekly sessions and a comprehensive toolbox with video tutorials and practical guides to maximize autonomy.
- Intensive production: 700 e-learning courses and more than 1000 micro-videos in 9 months
- Standardizing formats to ensure uniformity and consistent video quality
Why was Rapidmooc so vital?
The Rapidmooc studio served to meet several critical needs:
- Fast, high-volume production: Users could create videos in just minutes, with rapid post-production. Depending on the instructor's comfort level, a video could be completed in as little as 15 minutes thanks to a smooth and optimized process. This streamlined workflow included onboarding, setup, teleprompter and framing checks, recording, and cloud uploading. The speed and efficiency also relied on a rigorous validation process beforehand: every stage, from script approval to finalizing visuals, had to be completed before stepping into the studio.
- Standardization and consistency: all videos followed the same format, ensuring both educational and visual coherence.
- Ease of use: Thanks to features like the built-in teleprompter, even those new to or uncomfortable with speaking on camera could create high-quality content. More experienced users (such as the International Relations intern team) went as far as producing 80 videos independently, while also inspiring other departments to get involved, drawn in by their enthusiasm.
- Accessibility and inclusion: every video was subtitled in French and English, used gender-neutral language and featured visuals and formats designed to accommodate people with disabilities.
- Time saving: sessions were short and efficient, allowing business experts — who had limited availability but were actively involved in training — to make the most of their time.
Thanks to the video studio’s remarkable ease of use, impressive efficiency, and the structured yet creativity-driven support of Anne and Laurent, the Rapidmooc system successfully scaled up training video production, achieving outstanding results. A guest book was even introduced (and eagerly filled) to gather feedback from enthusiastic users, who saw the recording space as both a creative outlet and a meaningful way to contribute to the Games’ preparation.

What future for Rapidmooc after Paris 2024?
The story is just beginning! The Rapidmooc studio has been transferred to the CNOSF (French National Olympic and Sports Committee) to continue supporting the world of sports. Additionally, the expertise Anne and Laurent have gained in using this tool is paving the way for new opportunities:
- Anne Joignant now supports other organizations, such as RTBF, in maximizing their use of the Rapidmooc studio. She helps them leverage its full potential while promoting best pedagogical practices to create impactful content.
- Laurent Lalande now incorporates this approach into his e-learning consulting missions, drawing from his experience during the Olympics, where the tool enabled the rapid, cost-effective production of high-quality videos at scale.
The success of the Games has resonated worldwide and will continue to make headlines. Beyond the spectacular athletic performances that captivated audiences, it’s essential to recognize the exceptional teams working behind the scenes, those who ensured every aspect of the event ran seamlessly.
Ordinary people came together in unison for this extraordinary adventure, with training as one of its key driving forces. The Rapidmooc studio and the exceptional coordinators made it accessible, inclusive and highly effective, standing as a model to follow for future major events!
