Bruno Linyer has been a part of Thales' training ecosystem for 24 years, working within the "Digital Learning Studio," which is divided into two teams: Core Services and Production Services. Initially a key member of the Production Services team, he recently transitioned to the Core Services team, where he now focuses on coordinating tools with a more strategic and less operational vision.

Thales is a global leader, operating in 68 countries with over 81,000 employees and specializing in the aeronautics, space, defense and security sectors.

Employee upskilling: A key priority
Role and challenges of the Learning and Culture division at Thales
With its global presence, Thales must continuously maintain and enhance the skills of its employees. This is why the Learning and Culture division at Thales plays a pivotal role:
- By identifying the skills needed
- By providing high-quality, tailored training programs
- To achieve personal and common goals
This initiative is implemented locally through each site’s academies, functions and departments. By addressing needs with precision, it delivers impactful support with a clear objective: to train more —focusing on quantity, quality, and speed — thanks to contributions from Learning Business Partners and Learning Solution Managers.
In France, the digital training team initially relied on a traditional video studio to produce rich media content. However, this setup revealed limitations in handling high production volumes, as it required the constant presence of specialized technicians. It soon became insufficient to meet the group’s increasing demand for video content.
Before searching for the right technology, they had to identify the main needs:
- Increase video production to meet the growing demand for hybrid training
- Empower employees with creative autonomy while maintaining professional quality
The Rapidmooc solution: cost-effective from the 6th shoot
When they started searching, the Rapidmooc studio quickly appeared on their radar after hearing about EDF’s experience with the tool within their Learning Factory. The simplicity and efficiency of the video studio proved decisive, leading to the installation of the first studio in November 2017 within Thales’ newly established training facilities.
How has the Rapidmooc studio solved the 2 main problems?
- Empowered content creation: The intuitive interface enabled employees, even those without technical expertise, to produce professional-quality videos independently, eliminating the need for an AV team.
- Increased video production volume: The studio's user-friendly design has enabled Thales to meet the increasing demand for video training, significantly cutting both costs and production times.
All Learning Managers received training on how to use the studio, enabling rapid adoption across the entire group. This also led to an almost immediate return on investment:
"The initial investment in the Rapidmooc studio paid for itself in just six shoots."

Video creation, methodical project management
Two different video recording workflows
- Occasional use: each one-off shoot is supported by expert guidance
- Independent regular ese: employees seeking regular access benefit from a support program to help them improve their skills
Step-by-step support
Each video creation request begins with identifying the need and submitting it to the Digital Learning Studio. This is followed by preparation, where the Production team helps structure the content, finalize the script, and design the PPT slides. After the recording session, the video can be enriched with interactive elements before being published.
Easier and expanded use, despite safety constraints
With its user-friendly design and intuitive use, the Rapidmooc device provides autonomy and a range of features. However, for obvious security reasons, it remains disconnected from the internet and does not access all available options.
The teleprompter is a favorite feature among users, even those confident in public speaking
- It provides reassurance by displaying a pre-prepared script
- It helps to reduce verbal tics and improve delivery.
The tool is so powerful that it went beyond the initial scope of the training, to also serve the company’s internal communication.
Multiple benefits with Rapidmooc
"It is a training accelerator at Thales, offering complete autonomy for our users at a reduced cost."
Bruno Linyer, Learning Manager
- Time and cost savings: Video production doubled between 2021 and 2023, while significantly lowering outsourcing expenses.
- Autonomy and simplicity: The tool has empowered over 100 employees to create video content independently, even without prior audiovisual or pedagogical expertise.
- Versatility: While primarily used for training (80% of videos produced), the Rapidmooc studio has also been utilized for internal communications (20% of videos), showcasing its flexibility.
Looking ahead
The deployment of Rapidmooc video studios enhances and accelerates employee development by delivering high-quality training programs tailored to the group’s ambitions.
The number of studios has thus grown, with video studios now available in Bordeaux, Gennevilliers, Vélizy and Limours. As digital transformation reshapes training and work habits — shifting from in-office, face-to-face interactions to more flexible remote working — an increasing number of sites are looking to adopt Rapidmooc studios.
Rapidmooc ambassadors, who are mobile within the group, actively promote the tool, contributing to its growing popularity. Additionally, there is a project underway to transform the former rich media studio, currently unused, into a multimedia space.
